I was hoping that there was an alternative to the selectFile method which has been deprecated due to incompatibility with flash 10. If possible I would like to start the flash file dialogue using some javascript instead of requiring the user to click the flash button.
I would also like to express my appreciation to those who created and maintain swfupload, I have only found it recently and I think its excellent.

Your only option is to go back to Flash Player 9.
Flash Player 10 FORCES/REQUIRES a click on the movie to trigger the browser dialog.
